Glutathione and the Body
The body is a complex machine.
Even from within the smallest constituent of the human body, the cell, you can see the intricate system by which the body acts upon to be able to allow us to do the many things we do in our daily lives. Each cell is a machine on its own, continuously synthesizing small compounds which the body uses, to form energy, to create compounds needed by the body to maintain its structure, or to fight against disease or infection. One of the molecules the cells make is glutathione.
Without glutathione, our bodies would be vulnerable and weak.
This is because glutathione has a protective function over the body. Its main function is to act as the body’s most powerful antioxidant, by preventing the damage that can be caused by free radicals. Free radicals have the capability to destroy normal cells of the body since they do not choose the compounds they react to. Glutathione has a lot of reserve electrons by which free radicals can react with, thus sparing the normal cells and preventing their damage or destruction. In effect, glutathione is able to neutralize the free radicals and render them less injurious to normal cells.
Another function of glutathione is as a detoxifier and eliminator of harmful substances in the body. Presence of these substances can cause disease or render vital organs of the body susceptible to attack and damage. Add to this the decreased immune function without glutathione, leading to increased possibility of invasion by other attackers, such as bacteria or viruses. Increased risk and progression of tumors can occur rapidly with low levels of glutathione.
Where do we get glutathione? Glutathione is produced in the liver and is made up of glutamic acid, glycine and cysteine. With the exception of cysteine, these amino acids are easy to obtain naturally because it can be found in many different kinds of fruits and vegetables. Cysteine is the most difficult to find in natural foods, which is why it is one of the basic components being supplied by oral glutathione supplements. To know more about these visit MaxOneMaxGXL.com
